Habits, rituals, routines, discipline…are BORING A F!
BUT they’re ARE necessary.
We are what we repeatedly do.
If we jog every day, then we’re a jogger.
And it’s safe to say, probably quite fit.
But if we jogged once a fortnight, when we actually thought about it,
when we could be bothered to get off the sofa, put our trainers on and actually leave the
then we would NOT be a jogger!
And probably not be so fit.
We NEED habits, rituals, routines and disciplines to become what we want to become.
If we want to be a writer – of books or just great marketing copy,
we must write.
If we want to be a messenger, we must message!
We must write, or speak, or both and be WILLING to be seen and heard daily.
It must be a practice that we show up and share our message with the world.
And if we want to grow, we must do something each day that’ll help us grow.
Like reading, working through an online course we bought – instead of letting it gather
We must do something that scares us, even if it’s only a little out of our comfort zone.
We must make growing a daily habit.
This all sounds good until the day comes when you REALLY don’t feel like doing one or
more of the things you’d said you’d do daily.
Your “non negotiables”
But you just HAVE to do the thing.
Build up that backbone.
Build up that unbreakable habit, UNTIL it becomes SO natural to you,
it’s like brushing your teeth.
I mean, at one stage you didn’t have the brushing your teeth habit down and you probably
would groan when your parents aked you to go clean you teeth.
But now you wouldn’t dream of not cleaning your teeth.
And it’s kinda second nature to you now anyway.
Just as journaling and messaging daily is a habit for me now, so I want walking each day (at
least 30 minutes) to be a habit too.
And also spending at least an hour each day learning more about my area of expertise;
mindset and confidence coaching.
Sure I’m doing them now to a certain degree, but more random at the moment.
And not 100% every day without fail.
That’s why I’m working on making them REAL HABITS.
Anchoring them in.
Eventually they’ll become like second nature too, just like cleaning my teeth is!
And then it won’t be such a chore sometimes, I’ll just do it.
To go to the next level, to achieve our dreams, we have to become different people.
So once we’ve anchored in our new habits and they’ve become second nature, automatic,
we must after a time, mix it up.
We must continue to add new disciplines, new little habits, extra miles to jog or walk, extra
time spent reading, extra time spent being uncomfortable,
EVERY SINGLE DAY.
We are what we repeatedly do.
Habits create results.
Results stacked up create CONFIDENCE, IMPACT and a DREAM LIFE.
So YES, Habits, rituals, routines, discipline…are BORING A F at first, before they become
You will have to grit your teeth in the early stages and JUST GET IT DONE!
But you know what’s even more boring than creating habits / NON negotiables?
And also tragic?
YOU, not living up to your almost limitless potential.
So perhaps you need to journal around what you think about the words HABIT, RITUAL,
ROUTINE and DISCIPLINE?
‘Cause they are your allies.
They are what’s gonna get you everything you want out of life and more.
They are what’ll help you to create the success you crave so much and yet so far, haven’t
And just to be a little cheesy, I’ll leave you with this thought…
if it were easy, EVERYONE would be doing it!
Go discipline your ass!
